So CCP have decided to take a look at Rockets after however many years it's been since it was pointed out that after changes to game mechanics (speed, webs, sig radius, etc) that Rockets suck and are useless.
While I still use rockets occasionally, broken or not (working as intended™ so says CCP), on a Vengeance, I never really noticed how bad they were considering as a pirate, I've always chosen my targets that I know I can kill.
I digress!
So supposedly they increased the base damage [modifier], increased launcher capacity, and increased rate of fire and I believe something else to do with explosion velocity or some such. Anyways what this means is, according to some math gurus who crunch numbers, is that rocket dps for ships like the Vengeance, Hawk, and to extent Crow, will see a boost in the damage they do to other ships.
While this means rocket ships can now downgrade to 1 webifier, it still means that you have to have a way to reduce the speed of your target via web or scrambler. I suppose only needing 1 beats needing 2, but we'll see what happens when people stop number crunching and get on SiSi and find out for sure.
I'm hoping it'll get fixed to where you'll be able to do dps like light missiles where you still do ~60%-75% of your damage to moving targets (mwd or ab), but full damage when said target is slowed down or not moving; this is probably what CCP did and I fail at reading comprehension or something.
Anywho figured an update of something that'll eventually affect what I fly is better than no update! See ya in space!

Actually, the rate of fire was reportedly decreased by about 25%, so the actual 'paper' DPS increase will be low. The higher explosion velocity is where it's at.
